|Relationship Expert’s First Mystery Novel To Launch Hay House Fiction Line
Relationship expert, Gay Hendricks, will make his debut as a mystery novelist in January. Hendricks and his wife, Dr. Kathlyn Hendricks, have written relationship bestsellers such as Conscious Loving and The Conscious Heart; this is his first entry into the mystery/thriller genre. The mystery novel features the debut of a new kind of character in detective fiction, a young Tibetan-Buddhist private detective in Los Angeles named Tenzing Norbu (he goes by the nickname ‘Ten’.) The detective’s name figures in the title of the new book, The First Rule Of Ten.Hay House is best known as the leading publisher of self-help, transformation and spirituality books; in January they will launch their long-awaited line of fiction, with The First Rule Of Ten as the marquee release. Speaking from his home in Ojai, California, Hendricks said, “I’m thrilled that Hay House has chosen my book to launch the new fiction line. I have known and admired Louise Hay and Reid Tracy (Hay House CEO) for many years. Hay House is famous for publishing books on practical spirituality, so it’s the perfect fit for this book. My main character, Ten, draws on his upbringing in a Tibetan monastery to bring spiritual awareness into his work on the gritty streets of Los Angeles.”
“Accomplished Hollywood screenwriter Tinker Lindsay joins Hendricks as co-author of the new mystery. Lindsay says, “This book combines two of my passions – mysteries, and mindfulness! I think readers are going to love Ten, as well as relate to his valiant attempts to integrate his deep Buddhist roots with a complex urban world. And writing with Gay has been a joy and a privilege, not the least because his relationship books have held a place of honor on my bookshelves for decades!”
For Hendricks, the book makes a longtime dream come true: “When I was a teenager I loved to read the adventures of Sherlock Holmes. I read so many of them that my English teacher started calling me Sherlock. I decided that someday I would write a mystery novel of my own, and try to create a hero as interesting as Sherlock. Our detective, Ten, is my idea of a hero for our times, a person who can make his spirituality come alive in the real world of crime and intrigue.”
The First Rule Of Ten makes its debut in January.
